Deltona, FL - Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) is investigating a shooting that sent several bullets flying through a Deltona home and occurred early Monday morning as the residents slept. VCSO responded to a home on Merrick Dr. in Deltona at around 4:30 AM on Monday after reports that several shots were fired. According to Sheriff's Office reports, there were four people, ages 54, 18, 20, and 12 at the home and asleep at the time of the incident. They were awoken by "several loud banging noises." One of the glass doors at the home was shattered, and there was a quarter-sized bullet hole in the headboard of one of the beds in the home. Several projectiles were found in the couch near the front door. Reports show that there were approximately eighteen holes through multiple windows and nicks in the stucco at the front of the house. All of the residents refused medical treatment, and there were no injuries that could be connected to the shooting. One of the residents says that he has only lived at the home for about 3 months, and he is unsure who could be responsible for the shooting. The case remains active, according to VCSO.
