VCSO: Deltona Man Threatens Deputy During Arrest

Posted

Deltona, FL - A man who led to a deputy being fired in 2017 is in trouble with Volusia County Sheriff's Office again.

VCSO tells us they were called to the home of 57-year-old Pablo Juarez and his wife Tuesday for a call of a domestic disturbance.

According to the report, when authorities arrived they met with Juarez's wife who said she was hiding in her room when Pablo tried to break down her door to get to her.

She also stated in the report that last Friday she got into an argument with Juarez and tried to leave but he then grabbed her by the arms and kept her from leaving. She states she was afraid for her life but did not call law enforcement.

Deputies then placed Juarez under arrest for battery and false imprisonment.

While a deputy was transporting Juarez, he then began to threaten him saying that he was going to send drug dealers to his house and that they were going to, quote, "shoot you in the head," and that "They're going to rape your wife and mom."

Juarez then advised the deputy that he was a gang member and knew multiple individuals that would be willing to carry out the act.

Juarez then began to bang his head on the barrier of the patrol vehicle, causing the deputy to stop the vehicle and restrain Juarez, accidentally hitting a mailbox.

More deputies then responded to assist the deputy with Juarez's restraint and to notify the homeowner.

As one deputy was watching Juarez, he spit on the chest of their chest. He was then additionally charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and threatening an officer with death or serious bodily harm

This is not Juarez's first run-in with VCSO.

A September 2016 arrest involving Juarez led to the termination of Andrew Jenkins, a VCSO deputy at the time.

It was during that arrest that Jenkins was found to use excessive force against Juarez because of a leg sweep, which led to his termination and a settlement paid by the county to Juarez of $165,000.

Jenkins is now waiting to appeal his termination through the county's Personnel Board.
