VCSO: Burglary Suspect Slips Away During Arrest

Seville, FL - The search continues this morning for a 43-year-old burglary suspect who managed to escape from Volusia deputies after she was placed in a patrol car.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office tells us Amie Tyson slipped out of handcuffs and the back of the squad car around 5 p.m. Saturday (October 6th) along Barton Street in Seville.

She ran from the scene on foot, causing VCSO to bring out the bloodhounds and Air One, per agency spokesperson Laura Williams.

"A Code Red telephone message was sent out to about 121 residents within a two-mile radius of Barton Street notifying them that Tyson had escaped arrest in Seville and to be on the lookout for her," Williams added.

Tyson's arrest was based on burglary warrants from Volusia and Putnam counties.

She's described as a white female who stands 5 feet tall with brown hair, a black tank top, jeans and no shoes.

Volusia County Jail records show she's been booked there five times since July 2005, including most recently last September 23rd on conspiracy to commit burglary and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

Another suspect arrested at the same time as Tyson was on Saturday - 50-year-old Thomas Walton (below) - is held without bond this morning on six separate charges, including three each of burglary and theft.
