VCSO Bomb Squad Responds To Oak Hill Threat

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 2018 - The suspect in this case is identified as 36-year-old Troy William Phoenix.  VCSO deputies were told that Phoenix was upset because he was being evicted from a shed on a property located at 372 Beehive Dr. Phoenix threatened to blow up the house and everyone in it during a verbal dispute.  VCSO reports that Phoenix armed himself with a pipe bomb, lit the fuse and went inside the house.  He threw the bomb into the yard, where it exploded. No on was injured.  VCSO is looking for Phoenix.  Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 386-248-1777. Oak Hill, FL - Volusia County Sheriff's deputies and members of the Bomb Squad spent the better part of the afternoon at a home on Beehive Drive after receiving a 911 call about a loud explosion. VCSO is reporting that the suspect in the explosion had been involved in a verbal argument with family members and threatened to blow people up with a bomb.  Deputies were told the man lit something in the yard and then left the residence. There have been no reports of any injuries. Traffic in the immediate area was shut down.  Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
