Port Orange, FL – A 17-year-old High School student is charged with a felony after Daytona Beach police find a loaded gun in his bag while he was on campus.
According to Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the gun was found in the 17-year-old’s backpack after Daytona Beach police wanted to question him about a shooting case in Daytona Beach.
The pistol found was a .45 caliber handgun with one round in the chamber and four in the magazine.
VCSO also notes that the hammer on the gun was cocked.
The report also shows that no threats were made prior to the discovery of the gun.
The 17-year-old defendant is being charged with possessing a firearm on school campus, which is a felony in the state of Florida.
