Daytona Beach, FL - A felon riding in a stolen car is arrested after a traffic stop in Daytona Beach where deputies uncovered a stolen gun and drugs. Deputies tried to stop a Chevy Impala that was driving along Leon Lane in Daytona Beach at 9:40 p.m. yesterday. The driver of the Chevy bailed out of the car, let the car roll into a chain-linked fence, and fled, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. VCSO ordered the passenger in the car, 43-year-old Jamie Cash, to show his hands, but instead, Cash took off running. He appeared to be trying to conceal a gun. Shortly afterward, deputies caught up to Cash and arrested him. A search of the car uncovered a loaded gun that was reported stolen out of Edgewater and a backpack with a variety of drugs, including methamphetamines and oxycodone. The Chevy Impala was reported stolen out of Holly Hill. Cash has eight prior felony convictions on his record, and he was released from prison in 2010 after being convicted of robbery. He was held on $131,000 and remains in the Volusia County Branch Jail. Cash now faces charges of grand theft of a vehicle, armed trafficking in methamphetamine, armed trafficking in Oxycodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed firearm, grand theft firearm, possession of MDMA, resisting arrest without violence and possession of drug paraphernalia. VCSO is still looking for the driver of the car. Cash's mugshot courtesy of Volusia County Jail. Video below of Cash's capture courtesy of VCSO.
