VCSO Arrests 25 In West Volusia Drug Bust, Called “Operation Crack of Dawn”

By on May 17, 2017 in WNDB News

Volusia County, FL – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) arrested 25 drug dealers during their “Operation Crack of Dawn” drug bust.

After months of investigating tips and complaints, the VCSO was able to find over 30 people in the DeLand and West Volusia area who were suspected of crimes related to narcotics. The VCSO cooperated with the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force and Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team to arrest 16 people on Tuesday and 9 people a few days prior.

“We will continue to come after these drug dealers who are peddling poison on our streets, destroying the lives of their customers and disrupting our quality of life in Volusia County,” said Volusia County Sheriff, Mike Chitwood. “They can run, and they can hide, but we will find them – we won’t stop looking.”

There are still warrants out for 12 additional people for selling drugs on the streets and the VCSO expects they will be arrested on similar charges.

Home searches were conducted on Tuesday which revealed drugs, cash, guns and ammunition. One of the guns found was a stolen .45 caliber Beretta found at the residence of Jamar Booker, 27. Another stolen gun, as well as several different types of drugs, was found Monday at the residence of 48-year-old Frank Taylor and 29-year-old Sanmeshia Johnson, both previously convicted felons.
