Posted

Deltona, FL - A man in Deltona was arrested after Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) says he robbed a Chinese restaurant employee and was found in a swampy, wooded area with cash floating in the water around him. 33-year-old Tyron Conquest allegedly robbed an employee of the China Kitchen restaurant at 915 Doyle Rd. in Deltona on Thursday. VCSO says Conquest held a gun to the female employee's head as she was leaving work and stole her backpack. The backpack had $5,000 in bundled cash from the restaurant, the woman's cell phone, and her wallet with more cash. Conquest ran off with the backpack and pedaled away on a bicycle. The husband of the robbery victim chased Conquest until he reached the nearby Edgewater Condominiums, but lost sight of Conquest after that.

VCSO deputies, DeLand police's K-9 unit, and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office's Alert 1 helicopter all tracked down Conquest and found him in the swampy, wooded area. When they found him, there was also a handgun loaded with eight 9mm rounds. Approximately $3,000 in cash was also recovered. Conquest was taken into custody on $81,000 bond.
