Orange City, FL  - The University High School Jazz Ensemble will be playing a 'Bon Voyage' concert on Friday night as they prepare to go to the 70th Annual Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

“The honor of being invited to perform at the Mid-West Clinic in Chicago is no small feat,” said Volusia County Schools Performing Arts Specialist Monty Musgrave. “They were selected through an incredibly rigorous audition process, competing with schools all over the United States. This is a testament to the superb teaching skills of their conductor, David Martin, and the very talented and dedicated students in the UHS band program. Most high school jazz bands only dream of this achievement, performing for thousands of musicians and educators from around the world.”

The University HS Jazz Ensemble is 1 of only 2 groups from FL that will be participating in this prestigious conference, and they're only the 2nd group from Volusia County to participate - the University HS Orchestra was there in 2012.

The 'Bon Voyage' concert is scheduled for Friday, December 9, at 7 PM. It'll be held in the school's auditorium at 1000 W Rhode Island Ave in Orange City. The concert's free and open to the public.
