Witnesses say that 30-year-old Kevin Emptage, along with 16-year-old Isaiah Wright, spent two weeks planning the hold-up. Volusia County Sheriff's investigators took less than three days to track the pair down. The two were arrested this afternoon. Investigators say much of the information came from someone who was supposed to be part of the robbery but backed out at the last minute. Investigators say that Emptage lives less than a half-mile from the Family Dollar Store. A Sheriff's K-9 unit followed a scent into Emptage's neighborhood the night of the robbery. A search warrant was served this morning at Emptage's residence. Clothing that he wore during the robbery was recovered, along with some of the stolen money and about 8 1/2 grams of methamphetamine Emptage is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, grand theft, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine. His bond is set at $165,000 bond. The second suspect, 16-year-old Isaiah Wright was also arrested this morning. Among the evidence found is a video he posted on his Facebook page showing a Sheriff’s Office helicopter flying over the crime scene right after the robbery. In the video, Wright is heard commenting that law enforcement would not catch them. He then turned the camera on himself, helping investigators confirm his identity. Wright is being charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and is at the Volusia Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Daytona Beach. Investigators are still working to determine whether anyone else was involved.
