Two People Rescued From Plane Crash At Spruce Creek Fly-In

Volusia County, FL - Two people were rescued Friday morning from a plane crash that happened after take-off from Spruce Creek Fly-In near Port Orange.

The Volusia County Sheriff's office received a report of the crash at about 6:40 AM, near the 2600 block of Bravo V Circle.

According to the VCSO, a 911 caller reported the plane was upside down and its wings were stripped off. The caller said to the VSCO dispatcher, "He's moving - he answered me - I'm going to go out to the road so I can direct the responders. Tell them to come to my house and I'll get them out into the swamp."

Victims in the crash are 65-year-old Alan Kanabay and 64-year-old Wendy Kanabay, both of Illinois. They were transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Both were listed as being in stable condition later Friday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
