Two Minor Shark Bites Reported in New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach, FL- Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue is confirming that two separate shark bites took place on Saturday, July 16 in New Smyrna Beach.

Both victims were children.  An 11-year-old girl from Eustis was bitten on the toes while wading.  The other child, a 9-year-old girl from Altamonte was bitten on the calf while surfing.  Both injuries were reported as minor. Both girls were treated and released on scene.
