Two Dead In US 1 Accident In Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach, FL- Two people died in an accident involving a passenger car and a motorcycle Monday night at US 1 and Wilmette Avenue. Witnesses say the motorcycle rider had run a red light and was traveling in excess of 100 mph when he hit the car turning left onto Wilmette. 17-year-old Leah Bann and 24-year-old Michael Rosales died in the accident that happened around 9:13 Monday night.  The driver of the car, Anthony LaPlaca, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. According to police, Rosales was riding south on US 1 when the car turned in front of him. His bike hit the vehicle on the passenger side. That's where Bann was sitting. Bann was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene. Rosales was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He later died from his injuries.
