Two DeLeon Springs Men Die In Head-On Collision On US 17

Volusia County, FL-FHP says two DeLeon Springs men traveling in two different vehicles died in a head-on collision on US 17 at Lingering Lane Saturday evening.

Troopers say, for an unknown reason, a 1999 Chrysler 4-door vehicle was going southbound in the northbound lanes around 8:30 PM when it hit the second vehicle.

73-year-old Eliverio Piedra Ruvalcaba, the driver of the southbound vehicle, was killed. He is from DeLeon Springs.

In the second vehicle, a 2002 Honda CRV, 67-year-old Michael Jungwirth was killed. He was a passenger in the vehicle driven by 22-year-old Logan Jungwirth. She is in critical condition at Halifax Medical Center. She is also of DeLeon Springs.
