Truck Hits Power Pole In Daytona Beach, Passenger Airlifted As Trauma Alert

Daytona Beach, FL - A truck hit a power pole in Daytona Beach Monday afternoon and 1 passenger was airlifted to the hospital as a trauma alert.

According to the Daytona Beach Fire Department (DBFD), the DBFD and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach, for an accident involving a motor vehicle and a power pole. There were 2 occupants inside the vehicle when it struck the pole. The driver was able to exit the vehicle unassisted. The passenger had to be extricated by firefighters, who cut the roof completely off of the truck and removed the patient.

The impact of the crash caused a crack in the power pole, which caused hazardous conditions for firefighters working to safely remove the patient.

It is unknown what caused the crash. Daytona Beach Police will be investigating.
