DeLand, FL - The driver of a semi-truck was pronounced dead on Tuesday after he suffered from some type of medical condition while driving and crashed into a ditch on I-4 westbound near mile marker 115.

FHP says the driver was heading west around 10:20 AM when he began suffering from some type of medical condition which has yet to be determined. He managed to pull off to the right shoulder and into a sandy ditch without hitting any other vehicles.

According to State Trooper and FHP Public Affairs Officer Steven V. Montiero, "Some other drivers ran up to the cab and found the driver was completely unconscious." The bystanders gave the man first aid and performed CPR until troopers and first responders arrived on scene.

The truck driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials believe he may have died from his medical condition before bystanders pulled him out of the vehicle.
