Volusia County, FL - Deputies have charged a tow truck driver with stealing a dead man's bank card after, they say, he towed the man's vehicle from the scene of the accident where the victim died. 60-year-old Robert Sullivan was killed in an accident October 26 at S.R. 44 and Prevatt Avenue. His wife was hospitalized with injuries from the wreck. His vehicle was towed to Johnny's Autobody in Orange City where 31-year-old Giovanni Cannicati works. His family went to retrieve his personal items from the business and found his bank  card missing from his wallet. "This is just an unbelievably tragic story," said Gary Davidson, Public Information Officer with VCSO. "Evidently she was checking her accounts to make sure she had enough money to pay for the funeral of her husband. It was then that she discovered that there were 4 unauthorized charges that were made using her husbands bank card, and they were made within a 2 day period after his death." Those unauthorized charges totaled $1,748 and included two car payments and a payment to a furniture rental business. Deputies say when questioned Cannicati admitted using the credit card. Charges include of grand theft, illegal use of a credit card and unlawful possession of personal identification. He was booked into Volusia County Branch Jail.
