Tortugas Clinch Playoff Berth Despite Home Field Issues

Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Tortugas made a little history in clinching a playoff berth despite not being able to play as scheduled at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

In a Tuesday double-header against the Palm Beach Cardinals, the team climbed from behind in both games to come out victorious. The final scores were 7-2 and 4-2.

The Florida State League North Division title guarantees a playoff berth at the end of the regular season.

Due to field turf issues at Jackie Robinson Ball Park, the games were played at Silwa Stadium on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Those same issues are why this weekend's scheduled home series with the Florida Fire Frogs will be played at the Fire Frogs' home field in Osceola County instead.

As a result of the swap, the Fire Frogs will come to Daytona for a series starting July 9th.

Fans with tickets to scheduled games this weekend are able to use them for any future home game in 2018.

The Tortugas are scheduled to return to Radiology Associates Field on June 26 versus the Clearwater Threshers.
