Tomoka State Park To Host New Year's Day Birding & Photography Event

Ormond Beach, FL - Tomoka State Park's hosting a New Years Day event tailor made for photographers, bird lovers, and anyone who enjoys nature and/or a good scavenger hunt.

On Sunday, January 1, Tomoka State Park will be hosting its "First Day Photo Scavenger Hunt and Bird Hike. The events will run from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Sign in is at 10:15 AM at the parks recreation hall. "Participants will receive a clue sheet with 20 clues on there relating to historical markers in the park and also natural clues in 3 main areas of the park," said Aggie Armstrong, Park Services Specialist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. "They've got 2 hours to use the clues to hunt for the photos and take their photos and bring them back to the originating point at the recreation hall."

Long time bird banding volunteer Meret Wilson (Federal Master Bird Bander) will be on hand to help with birding pursuits and questions.

You can preregister by calling 386-676-4050. The cost for the event is included in the regular park entrance fee which is $5 per vehicle with up to 8 passengers or $4 for a single occupant vehicle. Tomoka State Park is at 2099 N Beach St in Ormond Beach.
