Toddler Drowns In Port Orange Pool

Port Orange, FL – A 2-year-old girl drowned in a backyard pool in Port Orange last night.

The Port Orange Police Department arrived at the home on Sagewood Dr. around 6:30 last night where they found a 2-year-old girl had been pulled out of the pool by her grandmother. The grandmother performed CPR until Port Orange Fire and Rescue arrived and took over. The 2-year-old was transported to Halifax Hospital Port Orange where she was pronounced dead.

According to the grandparents, the girl had been laid down for a nap. Detectives are investigating how she got out of the house and into the pool.

The 2-year-old arrived at her grandparents home on Wednesday along with her 5-year-old brother. They were visiting from Ohio.

The parents have been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
