Teen Charged In Mother's Murder Remains In Custody

Daytona Beach, FL - The DeBary teenager charged with murdering his mother on Friday after an argument over bad grades remains behind bars for now. That's not the case for the two friends whom the Volusia County Sheriff's Office says helped Gregory Ramos conceal the crime. During their first appearance in court yesterday, Dylan Ceglarek and Brian Porras were ordered to home detention despite prosecutors arguing that both should remain under the custody of the state. The 17-year-olds must wear an electronic ankle monitor 24 hours a day, seven days a week while under home detention. Deputies say Ramos used his friends to make it look like someone had broken into his home on Alicante Road when, in reality, he had killed his mother there and buried her at a nearby church. Ramos has been charged with first-degree murder, but State Attorney R-J Larizza's office hasn't announced if they plan to try the 15-year-old as an adult. Ceglarek and Porras are facing accessory charges.
