Suspects Sought After Man Shot In Arm & Buttocks

UPDATE (01-24-19): DeLand police have identified the man shot as 25-year-old Dexter Chambers.

Officers found Chambers at AdventHealth DeLand soon after he left the scene, according to the DeLand PD incident report. Police also recovered the vehicle he was driving on Valleydale Avenue later that night.

First responders were sent to Chambers' home around 8 p.m., where his brother and a neighbor told them Chambers had left the scene in a vehicle soon after confronting four men on the driveway of his home.

Per the report, the suspects walked through a neighbor's yard and onto Chambers' property. Shots were fired soon after that, with all four suspects fleeing on foot.

One of the suspects returned to the scene and looked around on the ground before leaving again, heading north through Candlelight Oaks Park, according to the report.

No description of the suspects has been released by police at this point.

DeLand, FL - Up to four people are being sought by the DeLand Police Department after a man in his 20's was injured in a shooting last night (January 23rd).

That unidentified man was shot twice in the arm and once in the buttocks in the Candlelight Oaks subdivision.

The injuries aren't life-threatening, according to DeLand Police spokesperson Chris Graham.

"It was initially believed to be a drive-by shooting," Graham added. "Detectives have [since] learned several suspects arrived on foot in the 800 block of Longview Drive. Several shots were fired, possibly between the suspects and the victim."

The suspects then fled the scene on foot, per Graham.

The man who was shot ended up at a local hospital for treatment.

DeLand PD haven't released any other details publicly at this point. This article will be updated if they do.
