Volusia County, FL - Investigators have two men in custody suspected in armed robberies in Debary and DeLand. 18-year-old Jaseary Brown and 24-year-old Alfonse Combs are in custody in Orange County and held on no bond. Authorities say Combs, the man who would usually enter the store and make a small purchase prior to the crime, came in to  talk to detectives when he saw his photo in the news. "That suspect initially denied any involvement in the robberies," said Gary Davidson, VCSO spokesman. "That, obviously, didn't make any sense whatsoever, and we knew that. After a while he changed his story, came up with another version, then, eventually, did confess to the robberies and admitted to his role in them. That led us to the second suspect." Deputies here say they will both be charged in the September 13 hold up at the Kangaroo Store on 399 South Charles R. Beall Blvd and the holdup September 19 at the DeLand Gas and Food at 702 South Spring Garden Avenue. The pair are being held in Orange County, with no bond, on charges stemming from a September 19th robbery there. "On Monday they committed 3 robberies in the span of an hour and a half," said Davidson. "They started in DeLand and then they went to Sanford and then ended up at a Citgo in Orlando. In that one, shots were fired at a customer. Fortunately, there were no injuries. But again, this was our biggest fear, that their behavior would escalate and someone might get hurt or even killed." The Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office are also working cases believed to involve the same suspects. Authorities say the pair targeted convenience stores and gas stations in a three county area.
