Ormond Beach, FL-35-year-old Nicholas Dinovo is in custody and charged with a list of counts stemming from the armed robbery of the Ormond Beach Walmart and the carjacking in the store parking lot Friday. Ormond Beach Police Public Information Officer Keith Walker says the man's girlfriend contacted the police after the crime and told them Dinovo had called her and told her he had robbed the store. He reportedly went to the store using the girlfriend's vehicle. Once inside, Walker says, Dinovo went to the sporting goods section and took a realistic looking bb gun out of a box and used that to carry out the robbery and the carjacking at gunpoint. Walker says Dinovo, during the phone conversation, told the girlfriend he had "lost" her car and didn't know where it was. At that point, Walker says, Dinovo told the woman he had robbed Walmart. She then called police to give them his name and tell them what Dinovo had told her. Walker says Daytona Beach authorities later chased the girlfriend's car, stopped it and found it had been traded for drugs. Walker says Dinovo was taken into custody Saturday by Daytona Beach Police. The stolen vehicle from the Walmart carjacking was found outside Florida Hospital Daytona Beach and returned to the owner. Dinovo is facing seven felony counts and is held on $1.4 million bond at Volusia County Branch Jail.
