Deland, FL-A car break-in suspect fired several shots into the air early Thursday when he was caught in the act by the resident near DeLand. No one was hurt.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office PIO Andrew Gant says a woman living on West Stevens Avenue heard noise in her driveway. When she went to check, a man ran away and jumped into an extended cab F-150. The man then fired several shots into the air. Another suspect came running from another residence, jumped in the truck and the pair drove off.

Gant said several other residents on Stevens, Raymore and Talton Avenues reported break-ins and they are likely connected. Gant went on to say that unlocked vehicles make it too easy for would-be burglars.

The suspects were described as white males, with one of them likely in his early 20s wearing a black hat, teal shirt and jeans. The other suspect was estimated to be 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds with a shaved head.
