Surfer Bitten By Shark In Ormond Beach; Volusia's 3rd Reported Shark Bite Of 2017

Ormond Beach, FL - A surfer was bitten on the calf by a shark in Ormond Beach on Tuesday afternoon.

The Canadian tourist was surfing near the 3300 block north just before 4 PM when she jumped off her surfboard into water that was about chest deep. That's when the shark, which wasn't seen by the victim, bit her on the calf.

She was treated on scene and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Volusia County Beach Safety, this is the 3rd reported shark bite so far this year in the county.
