Election Results

Volusia County, FL - With 125 of 125 precincts reporting in Volusia County, it looks like the County Council races have been decided.

Ed Kelley had a commanding lead over incumbent Jason P. Davis throughout the night in the race for County Council Chair, and ended with 61.9% of the vote. Heather Post won the hotly contested Council Member District 4 race with 54.4%, beating out rival Al Smith who ended the night with 45.6%. Billie Wheeler wins the District 2 seat. The next Volusia County Council will have a majority of four women for the first time.

Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis said results are preliminary and won't be certified for another 10 days or so, but these 2 races weren't close - so it's safe to call them. She said there are some provisional ballots and 10-day-over-seas that still need to be counted, but not enough to change the results of these races.

Lewis said the county only had 1 issue in the county. In Deltona "a voter put a ballot in and rather than letting it go through the cycle they tried to pull it back out," she said. "I'm not sure why, but it kind of messed up the skewing of the machine and the roller in it, so we did replace the machine. Voters kept voting, nothing stopped there."
