Student Arrested Following Shooting Threats Made Through Xbox

Palm Coast, FL - For the second time this year, a student at Buddy Taylor Middle School in Flagler County is taken into custody for making threats to shoot up the campus.

A 13-year-old boy made those threats to other students while playing games online through his XBOX, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

He's now facing a felony charge of a false report concerning the use of a firearm, per Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly.

“We are glad that these students spoke up and let their parents know exactly what was being said on XBOX,” Staly added. “We have a zero tolerance policy in Flagler County for threats of violence in our schools."

Witnesses say the boy told fellow students on XBOX Live that he had made a map of the school as part of his plan and it was soon after those interviews with FCSO when the boy was arrested, according to Staly.

"We have been working closely with the [Flagler County] School District to remind parents and students about appropriate speech and behavior in schools as well as online," Staly noted.

The first incident happened in August, with that student being Baker Acted after making the threat in a classroom while school was in session.

Another student was arrested at Buddy Taylor this year for bringing a gun onto campus.
