DeLand, FL - With a focus on students getting a top education at a good value, Stetson University is once again ranked near the top by U.S. News & World Report. Stetson University has been ranked as number 5 on the 2019 list for Best Regional Universities in the South and number 3 on the list of Best for Veterans in the South. Spokesperson Janie Graziani said the school is excited about the rankings. Graziani said, "National recognition by multiple organizations that Stetson has received is a testament to Stetson's innovation and the dedication of our faculty and staff." Students at Stetson enjoy a low undergraduate student to teacher ratio of 13 to 1. Graziani said, "The small class sizes help the faculty have a more personal relationship with the students, meaning that they can spend more time with each student. According to Graziani, the number 3 ranking for Best for Veterans Regional University in the South is due to the care and special pricing allowed for veterans. She said the College of Law in Gulfport has a Veterans Legal Clinic that helps veterans with their benefits. Stetson University is not the only local school to be recognized.  Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is one of only 12 schools whose highest degree is a doctorate nationally to make the list for Best Undergraduate Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering Programs.  Embry-Riddle, like Stetson, is in the top ten Best for Veterans, tying another school at number 9. Other Florida colleges also made it into the U.S. News & World Report rankings with the University of Florida at number 8 in the Public Research category. Florida State University missed the top 25 for public universities by one rank, coming in at number 26. The University of Central Florida ranked at number 87, compared to number 90 last year.
