Florida - A rate hike for Florida Power & Light was approved by state regulators as a result of the impact of damages caused by Hurricane Matthew.
On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Florida Public Service Commission approved a request from FPL for $318.5 million in funds to be used to cover storm-related damage from Hurricane Matthew. The money will also be used to replenish FPL's storm reserve fund.
FPL's 4.8 million customers will experience an average increase of $3.36 on their bills beginning in March for one year.
