Daytona Beach, FL - A 59-year-old South Daytona woman is dead after being struck by a pickup driven by 44-year-old Franklin Connell of Ormond Beach.
The accident happened on South Ridgewood in Daytona Beach near Fremont Avenue Monday evening at about 7:45 p.m. Daytona Beach Police officers report that Connell told them the woman came "out of nowhere" as he was traveling southbound on Ridgewood.
The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daytona Beach Fire Department has not been identified, pending notification of next-of-kin.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time, there are no criminal charges pending.
