Volusia County, FL - Several Volusia County Schools will open their doors to feed families that are going through tough times after Hurricane Irma.
Throughout Hurricane Irma, Volusia County Schools sheltered and fed more than 4,000 people three square meals. With school being cancelled for over a week, some families are struggling to provide food for their families. To answer that need, several schools will open their doors
Saturday morning to provide breakfast and lunch.
From
8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on
Saturday, September 16, 2,800 breakfasts will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis until supplies run out. In addition, 2,800 take-home lunches will be provided. The following school cafeterias will be open:
- Campbell Middle, 625 South Keech Street, Daytona Beach, FL 32114
- Chisholm Elementary, 557 Ronnoc Lane, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168
- Friendship Elementary, 2746 Fulford Street, Deltona, FL 32738
- Southwestern Middle, 605 West New Hampshire Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720
Families from these and surrounding schools will be notified of the opportunity. Together we can return our community to normalcy.
