Volusia Sheriff Upset Over Lack Of Coordination In DeBary Gun Theft Arrests

Posted

DeLand, FL - Volusia County's Sheriff is ticked off at the Orange County Sheriff's Office for asking his deputies to stay away as they arrested five teenagers who broke into a DeBary gun shop over the weekend.

Speaking to reporters yesterday from his office in a conversation posted on his personal Facebook page, Mike Chitwood says it was dangerous to allow those teens to take nearly $15,000 dollars worth of guns and let them drive from DeBary to Orlando before making the arrests.

In an interview this morning on WNDB's Bennett & Bernier Show (full audio below), Chitwood added that he's since spoken to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and he's confident this kind of situation won't happen again in the future.
