Volusia County, FL-Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is one of a group of law enforcement leaders who will meet with House Speaker Paul Ryan today in Wisconsin.

In a video posted online, Chitwood says he will talk to Ryan about the need for training for law enforcement to try to de-escalate potentially deadly interaction between police and suspects. In the video, Chitwood stresses the need for officers to “slow down” and use resources in situations that could and often do turn to use of deadly force.
