Volusia County, FL- Two separate shark bite incidents are being reported in the Daytona area. Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Senior Captain Tammy Marris reports that on Monday, a 37-year-old surfer was bitten on the ankle around 2 P.M. at the New Smyrna jetty. He had minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
A 25-year-old Edgewater man was bitten a short time later, just after 3 P.M. He was jumping off his surfboard near the beach in Ponce Inlet. Marris said he suffered lacerations to his foot. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
