Flagler Beach, FL - The City of Flagler Beach announced this week that a sewer main line rupture occurred Sunday morning, spilling about 10,000 gallons of wastewater. Officials say that at about 5 AM on Sunday, a ten-inch steel sewer force main ruptured at the intersection of South 22nd St. and Daytona Ave. in Flagler Beach. The break occurred about four feet below ground. Repair workers responded within 30 minutes, and the force main break was fixed by about 2 PM that day. There was minimal sanitary service interruption, according to a news release by the City of Flagler Beach. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Flagler County Health Department were notified. Most of the wastewater was vacuumed up, and lime was applied to the affected area. The spill did not reach the Intracoastal Waterway. NOTE: Featured photo is not a photo of the Flagler Beach main line break.
