DeLand, FL - Police are seeking help from the public in capturing a burglar who broke into at least two restaurants.

The two Burger King restaurants in DeLand, one on North Woodland near George W. Marks Elementary and the other on South Woodland near Victoria Square, were found burglarized early Saturday morning.

DeLand police released security footage from one of the Burger Kings of the suspect.

DeLand police were first notified when an employee of that restaurant walked in and saw the front two registers open. When she walked towards the back of the restaurant she noticed the drive-thru window was busted open with the rear register open as well.

She then walked back to the front, locked the door and called police.

The second restaurant was found to have been broken into when an officer, who was performing business checks, found the rear drive-thru window smashed. The officer took a closer look, finding someone pried it open before opening the cash register.

Detectives are also investigating a similar break-in at a Taco Bell on Tuesday, which is also on South Woodland near DeLand Truck Center.

The rear door had been pried open and all of the registers busted open. However, according to police, no money was stolen because the closing shift had put all the money in the safe.

The damage on the Taco Bell restaurant is estimated around $3,000.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect is asked to contact the DeLand Police Department at 386-626-7400 or submit an anonymous tip here.
