Riverside Fishing Pier At Smyrna Dunes Park Is Opening Soon

Posted

New Smyrna Beach, FL – A grand opening ceremony will be held soon to celebrate the new riverside fishing pier at Smyrna Dunes Park, 2995 N. Peninsula Ave., New Smyrna Beach.

On Friday, May 26 at 9 AM, you are encouraged to attend the event alongside the Volusia County Council. Admission fees to the park will be waived during the event.

The new 350 feet long and 10 feet wide fishing pier is located on the east shore of the Intracoastal Waterway at Ponce de Leon Inlet. The construction includes concrete piling, two shade structures, benches and a handrail for more accessible fishing for those who are handicapped. The deck and the handrail are composite lumber made out of recycled plastic.

Smyrna Dunes Park is 184 acres of land on the south end of Ponce de Leon Inlet, surrounded by water on 3 sides. Many people swim, sunbathe and fish there, making it one of the most popular coastal parks in the area. It is also one of the only pet-friendly parks in the area where owners can bring leashed pets into the river and inlet beaches.
