Volusia County, FL-A mother and calf manatee pair will be released Friday at the Tomoka State Park boat ramp. The pair were rehabilitated after the adult female was found with a boat injury in May. Her calf was with her when both were rescued from the Tomoka River by members of the Volusia County Stranding Team and Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. The manatee was treated at SeaWorld Orlando. The release is scheduled for 10 to 10:30 AM. The endangered Florida manatee is at risk from natural and man-made causes of injury and death.
