Registration To Begin For Volusia Schools' Voluntary Summer Pre-K Program

Volusia County, FL - Registration for the Volusia County Schools' free summer Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program kicks off soon. Registration will take place on Tuesday, March 20; Thursday, March 22; and Tuesday, April 10 from 8:30 AM until 3:30 PM at the students' home-zone school for incoming kindergarteners who have not taken advantage of the State's free VPK program. During VPK registration, the following school sites may be selected, according to Volusia County Schools:
  • Champion Elementary in Daytona Beach
  • Discovery Elementary in Deltona
  • George Marks Elementary in DeLand
  • Read-Pattillo Elementary in New Smyrna Beach
  • Turie T. Small Elementary in Daytona Beach
The VPK program operates four days a week (usually Monday through Thursday), from Tuesday, June 5 through Monday, July 30 from 7:37 AM to 5:30 PM. A free breakfast and lunch are served to all children participating in the program, but transportation is not provided, according to Volusia County Schools. In order to be eligible for the VPK program, children must meet the following qualifications:
  • Be five years old on or before September 1, 2018
  • Be a resident of Volusia County
  • Have a current, valid Summer 2018 Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties
