New Smyrna Beach, FL - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a woman is struck and killed while walking southbound along Interstate 95 near the State Road 44 exit in New Smyrna Beach.

At around 2:20 AM on Sunday, 28-year-old Calin Buehrer of St. Augustine was driving a GMC SUV southbound on I-95 in the inside lane. An unidentified 36-year-old woman from Port Orange was walking southbound on I-95 in the inside lane, within the path of Buehrer’s vehicle. FHP says the front of the SUV struck and killed the woman.

Alcohol was not a factor for Buehrer, however, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor for the 36-year-old woman.
