Port Orange To Hold Public Reception For Fire Chief Candidates

Port Orange, FL-Officials in Port Orange want residents to get a chance to meet the candidates to the be next fire chief.

A public reception, featuring three candidates, will be held Tuesday at the City Hall lobby.

Joe Dixon from Fulton, MD, has worked in the fire and safety sector since 1993. Dixon is a graduate of Waldorf college.

Ken Fustin of Springfield, IL, has had a career in Fire since 1982, and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College.

Robert Fiscus is from Sharon PA, and has worked in fire since 2002.  He graduated from Gannon University.

City spokesman Kent Donahue says there were more than seventy applications for the job.

The reception comes after two of three finalists for the post withdrew their applications earlier this year. Port Orange officials decided to restart the process that began when former Chief Skip Irby announced he was retiring.

The reception begins at 4 PM.
