Port Orange, FL - Port Orange is hitting the reset button in its search for a new Fire Chief.

The city announced on Wednesday that it has re-posted the job online (click here) and hopes to have someone in place before current Fire Chief Skip Irby leaves on April 20th.

"My intent is to reopen the selection process and expedite it by reaching out to the previous list of candidates as well as opening it to new candidates," said Port Orange City Manager Jake Johansson.

3 finalists were named recently for the opening but one of those candidates withdrew prior to the interview and another decided to withdraw for personal reasons after being interviewed, according to city spokesman Kent Donahue.

"The remaining candidate was not selected," Donahue added.

Johansson plans to name an interim by April 20th if Irby's permanent replacement hasn't been found by then.
