Police arrested the suspect, Thomas Higgenbotham, on Tuesday afternoon in Edgewater. Police say he came looking for his estranged wife and shot the man she was visiting with. The shooting took place in the 5400 block of Frederick Lake Drive just before midnight. The victim, identified as Adam Wellman, was shot twice. Wellman was with Kathryn Higginbotham who is currently separated her husband. Police say Higginbotham confronted the couple in the pool and fired shots at both of them. Higginbotham chased Wellman and fired at him as Wellman ran through the house and out the front door to a neighbor’s residence for help. Kathryn Higginbotham called 9-1-1 but did not know where Wellman had gone. The neighbor at the home where Wellman ran for help also called the police. Wellman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
