Daytona Beach, FL – A man charged with first-degree murder but found guilty by a jury of second-degree murder will be spending the rest of his life in prison.
Port Orange Police arrested 37-year-old Jamal Kareem Davis for the 2016 murder of his fiancee, 24-year-old Justine Clawson. Davis told police that they had got into an argument, which became physical, over their relationship and child custody.
The investigation showed that Clawson’s jaw was broken and that she was shot four times. Davis was caught after he drove into a tree. He told police that he was trying to kill himself
Because of the lesser charge, Davis escaped a mandatory life sentence but still faced up to life behind bars. Which is what he received when Circuit Judge Dennis Craig handed down his sentence.
