Port Orange Fire Chief Selection Has Been Made

port-orange-sign Port Orange, FL-City Manager Jake Johansson has announced the selection of Kenneth Fustin as Port Orange’s new Fire Chief.  Johansson said, “Chief Fustin will be a perfect fit, and will provide leadership to the Fire and Rescue Department for the long term.” Chief Fustin was one of three finalists selected to interview from a group of 70 candidates that applied for the position. Former Fire Chief William “Skip” Irby retired in April of this year. Chief Fustin’s selection is tentative pending a background review. He served with the Springfield, Illinois Fire Department since 1989 and retired in April 2015 as the Fire Chief. Fustin brings a full range of experience to the job. He started with the Springfield Fire Department as a Firefighter, then moved through the ranks as a Driver-Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and was appointed Fire Chief in 2011. His professional organizations include serving on the executive board of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and as the vice president of the Central Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.
