Port Orange City Councilman Bob Ford Passes Away

Port Orange, FL - The District 1 City Councilman of Port Orange passes away surrounded by family according to Port Orange Mayor Don Burnette WNDB reached out to Burnette this morning (December 23rd) to seek confirmation, finding out that 74-year-old Bob Ford passed away after a battle with cancer on Saturday (December 22nd).

With a heavy heart and sadness I convey the news that PO Councilman Bob Ford has passed away. He's a dear friend and will be missed by many. His public service to PO began in the 1980's as Police Chief and carried through today. His family has asked for privacy at this time.

According to Burnette, a special election will have to be held to fill Ford's position. Burnette also said that the Ford family has not given any details on funeral arrangements, and requests privacy at this time. Mayor Burnette told WNDB more information on the special election can be given once the city offices open up after the holidays.
