Poll: Nelson Takes Lead In Senate Race

Daytona Beach, FL - For three weeks, a prominent poll had the US Senate Race in Florida at a dead heat. Now, according to that same poll, the scales have tipped.

The new results from Quinnipiac University survey released yesterday shows that incumbent Democratic Senator Bill Nelson has opened up a new lead over Florida Governor Rick Scott.

Since September 5th, the polls showed a 49-49 dead heat tie between the two, but today the new numbers show women support Nelson 58-41. However, the men are divided, with 51% supporting Scott instead, with Nelson at 47%.

White voters are backing Scott 53-45 percent. But, with an overwhelming amount of support, African-American voters give Nelson a major lead with 90-10, and Hispanic voters giving Nelson 61-39.

Republican voters give Scott the lead at 89-10. Nelson leads with the Democrats at 94-5 and 56-40 among Independent voters.

Among likely Florida voters, 94% say their mind is already made up.
