DeLand Woman Dies Of Injuries Sustained In Vehicle Deliberately Set On Fire

DeLand, FLUpdate: (9/25/17): Tracy Adams, the 39-year-old woman who was inside a vehicle that was intentionally set on fire in DeLand on August 27, has passed away from her injuries.

Officials say the investigation is still ongoing.

Earlier Reporting (8/27/17):

Police say a woman was severely burned in DeLand when a vehicle was set on fire.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of W. Volusia Ave. just after 8:30 PM on Sunday night. When first responders got to the scene, they found a 39-year-old woman with severe burns on her body and a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished, but not before it damaged the exterior of a nearby home.

The woman, who is not being identified at this time, was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she's listed in critical condition.

Police believe the fire was intentionally started by someone else. The State Fire Marshal's Office, with help from the DeLand Police Department, will investigate the incident. Officials say no one has been arrested at this time and more information will be released when it becomes available.
