Daytona Beach, FL - Police say they are searching for an armed man who robbed a Daytona Beach Discount Market on Tuesday afternoon. An employee at the Discount Market, located at 1437 Ridgewood Ave., was cleaning up the store at around 1:30 PM on Tuesday when he said someone came up behind him and demanded money from the cash register, according to Daytona Beach Police (DBPD). When the employee turned around, he saw that the suspect was carrying a silver handgun. The suspect got away with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash. The store clerk was not injured. A K-9 unit from Edgewater was dispatched to track the scent of the suspect, but the K-9 lost the man's scent. Volusia County Sheriff's Office's Air One helicopter also searched the area, but the suspected armed robber was unable to be found. The suspect is described as a black man, age 22-30, about six feet tall or taller, weighing 140 to 160 pounds, according to police reports. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with the word "CALI" written in cursive on the front, black gloves, and sweatpants.
